    mouse problem

Using Win 98 SE, and an out-of-the-box MS Intellipoint mouse. Occasionally the mouse pointer will just freeze. The keyboard still works fine. This is happening more and more frequently, 4-5 times a day. When I Ctrl-Alt-Del, and try to close the mswheel program, I get the "This program is not responding" error message. The only way to get the mouse to work again is to reboot. Any ideas what could be causing this? My first instinct is to reinstall the mouse driver, but have never replaced a driver, so can anyone give me a beginner's lesson on reinstalling a driver?

    Re: mouse problem

    Hi
Go here, select your OS, download and install. I believe it's just a matter of following the on-screen instructions.
However, it may not be a driver problem. It could be an IRQ conflict. To save alot of messing about, have you thought of upgrading to XP or even 2000? The way NT based OSs handle IRQs is radically different (and better).
