    'Stealth' Program

I have a printscreen program called Screen Shot. It worked fine in windows 98 and when I first installed windows 2000 for a while. It is now a 'stealth' program, by that I mean that it works OK, I can still print my screen with it but I cannot see the program.

It is in my startup folder and evidently starts OK, but it dosen't show in the system tray where it usually resides. It also does not show as a running program in the Applications tab of Task Manager although it is listed in the Processes tab.

Needless to say, I can't get into the program change any options or settings if I need to.

    Any thoughts??

I'd start by removing the program, and then re-installing the software. If that doesn't get it, then it's time to dig deeper.

I should have mentioned in my post that I have uninstalled and reinstaled twice.

That means we can eliminate that then, doesn't it? <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15> Does this program have a setting somewhere to hide the tray icon? And is it the only program that exhibits this behavior? For that matter, what is the app called, if you don't mind? It's quite possible that someone else has had the same, or similar problem with it.

The program is 'Screen Shot 2.0'. If the program does have a setting to hide the tray icon I don't know because I can't get into the program. That is what is so strange about this.
The program is running because it does what it is supposed to do- print the screen when I hit the printscreen key, but I can't access the program itself.

Can you post a link to the software's website? Searching Google on "Screen Shot" is pretty pointless - 1,530,000 hits - and Tucows doesn't list it (although there is a Screen Shot Maker, Screen Shot Wizard, etc.).

Edited by WyllyWylly to add URL code. See the Quick Guide.

Check this out: http://www.broderbund.com/Product.asp?OID=...p;SC=0120056015. It is for Screen Shot Deluxe 4.0 and it relatively inexpensive at 19.99 USD. Also has a Win2k/XP logo.
