    Sorting Birthdays (Outlook 2000)

My question is similar to the "Find Birthday" message posted last year. But, my client has added birthdays under the Detail tab as their actual birthdate - say 7/30/1957. She would like to print a list chronologically by month not year. In other words, she would like to print a list to see who has a birthday in July regardless of what year they were born. In the Advanced Filter option, it sorts chrono by date and year.

I tried exporting to Word or Excel and can't figure it out in either of those.

In Excel, try using a formula like this in the next column over from the date:

    =MONTH(CorrespondingDateCell)

If Excel does not recognize the contents of the date cell as a valid date, there is some rigamarole you can do that more experienced Excel users will know.

The rigmarole that Jefferson is referring to is if the cells are formatted as Text. The "belt and braces" version of converting such data to numbers is to find an unused cell and enter the value 1 in it. Then copy this value, highlight all your imported data and then select Edit|Paste Special|Multiply All. HTH
