    's' changes to 'X' (6.0.26)

I received a message in Eudora with a hotlink. The link included an "s". But every time I click on the link it opens in IE as an "X".
    The link is <http://www.wnyc.org/onthemedia/transcripts_070502_freedom.html>
The first "s" in transcripts changes to an "X".
Here is the URL as it appears in IE <http://www.wnyc.org/onthemedia/tranXcripts_070502_freedom.html>. Of course this URL returns a 404 message.
Of course I can manually correct the error. But what is causing it.

I have attached the entire email as a txt file.

I found the following in your attachment:
    A HREF="http://www.wnyc.org/onthemedia/tran<font color=red>X</font color=red>cripts_070502_freedom.html" TARGET

You can see the link it self has a X in it, it is an error make by the sender.

    Re: 's' changes to 'X' (6.0.26)

And yet it apears as an "s" in the original email as displayed by Eudora.

Here is tha actual HTML code from the Eudora In.MBX file :

    "

<FONT SIZE=2>The transcript of that interview is available at the following link:* <A HREF="http://www.wnyc.org/onthemedia/tranXcripts_070502_freedom.html"
    TARGET="_blank">http://www.wnyc.org/onthemedia/transcripts_070502_freed
    om.html</A></FONT></P>"

I notice the HREF= line is wrong but the TARGET= line is correct. I assume he didn't type in the message any idea where this went wrong.

I would say that the person typed it in wrong. There is NO other way it could happen <img src=/S/bash.gif border=0 alt=bash width=35 height=39>

It's one thing when an intern makes a typo in the source code behind a link. It's another when a highly paid employee performing a company's highest mission makes a typo in the viewable link in a plain text message.

<pre>Title: 26 June 2002 Cumulative Patch for Windows Media Player

the most serious of which could be used to run code of
    attacker's choice.

Microsoft encourages customers to review the Security Bulletin at:

Of course, the real URL is http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS0<font color=red>2</font color=red>-032.asp. Happy new year!

...ah the joys of a hasty cut and paste, then an overlooked edit.

Nice one, but he should not be smiling, having just been given the chop. Can we have it Eileen?
