    How to Reformat HD?

Hey, can someone refresh me on the steps to reformat a hard drive on a PC? It's been a while since I've had to do it and now my mother-in-law needs it done. She has all her software disks and her Windows98 disks. All her files are backed up also. I'm probebly forgetting some information for you, so let me know what else you need.

    Thanks,
    Lenny

    Hi

    1. During boot-up configure the BIOS to read floppy disks first : you will need to press F2 or DEL before Windows starts to load to get into the BIOS.

    2. Put in the Win98 boot up disc you made when installing the OS. Restart.

    3. This will boot you to a DOS prompt without involving your HD. You can select with or without CD support.

    4. Type Format C: (or whatever) at the A:/> prompt

    5. If you need to re-partition your HD, type FDisk first, do the partitioning, then format.

Thanks, Mike. I really needed the detailed instructions the thread offered, as I haven't reformatted a HD since Windows3.11!!
