    Disconnect (IE6)

    Hi

I have just changed machines and have moved from Windows 95/IE5 to Windows XP/IE6. In the past when I closed the last open IE window a message box popped up asking if I wished to disonnect. Now I find this doesn't happen - can I make it? Otherwise fearing huge phone bills.

    Thanks

Go to your Dial-Up connection and select Properties/Options. You can set the 'idle time before hanging up' if you're worried about staying connected for long periods by mistake.
Also in Outlook Express you can configure an option to 'Hang Up after Send and Receive'

    Re: Disconnect (IE6)

    Hi Sue:
Another way may be to use the loadwc.exe file. If you drag that file into Windows startup folder, it will appear as a shortcut, & start when Windows starts. IE should ask if you want to disconnect when the browser is no longer active. I used to have a setting in

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentV ersionRun for loadwc.exe

but I haven't used it in such a long time that I don't want to advise you to muck about in the registry.
