    Assigning shortcut keys

This is bugging the heck out of me: How does a Word97 user assign a keyboard shortcut to a pre-recorded macro?

I often record a quick-n-dirty macro to perform a minor routine task, such as merging two cells at a time and then moving down to the next row.

I usually remember to assign it to a keyboard shortcut, such as Ctrl-Shift-1 so that I can issue the command repeatedly with ease.

Sometimes (like this morning) I forget to assign the keyboard shortcut.

Now I have a useful little macro "Macro1" and the only way I know of getting to it through a shortcut key is to record a second macro "Macro2" and assign IT to a shortcut and record its call to Macro1. Inelegant.

I know I could do it with a VBA macro, but I'm really looking for on-the-fly here, especially if I'm doing desk-side support with a user who doesn't want to get into VBA.

Tools-Customize, Command Tab, click Keyboard Button, then select macro and key assignment.
