    Find IP addresses (All)

A thread in Software Finds & Wants pointed to the existence of a Hosts file, where we can add addresses and name equivalents to bypass dns lookups for favourite addresses, and thereby speed up access to some sites:
    63.151.114.115 www.wopr.com #Woody's Lounge

What is a good way to get these addresses? Also, for the address can the sections be zero-filled in order to normalize formatting? Ie, 063.151.114.115?

    David,

Go to a DOS prompt and type ping www.wopr.com and jot down the number returned. That's the octet for the site. I'm not aware of formatting in with zeros.

    Re: Find IP addresses (All)

One way is to open a command prompt and type:

    PING www.wopr.com

The first line should be something like:

Pinging www.wopr.com [63.151.114.115] with 32 bytes of data:

and there is your IP address.

As for zero stuffing, I don't think it should make any defference, because the first part's value is 63 if it is either 63 or 063.
