    Security Concepts

Where are the various object (form, report) permissions stored? Are they in the front-end file? Or the .mdw file? And exactly what all does the .mdw file do?

    Thanks for the clarification

    Try the Access Security FAQ:

    Re: Security Concepts

An MDW file contains the users and groups, their passwords and permissions, for a particular Access workgroup. When you don't have security set up on a database, you log in as the Admin user, with full permissions to everything through the default System.mdw. When you set up passwords and start assigning permissions, they only apply to the workgroup for that MDW. Unless you take steps to remove all permissions from the Admin user, someone could open the database from an unsecured MDW and have full access to it.
