    Click TagPanel

Eileen, are you around? I just tried making a post and can't get the Click TagPanel to let me do ANYTHING. It seems to be dead!

    Lemme try again now.....

No dice, Dave. I just tried again and I clicked on both of the POST tags and the two URL tags and my machine just sits here doing nothing. What do you suppose could have happened on MY end to cause such unresponsiveness? I think I'll logout, reboot my machine and see if something on my end is corrupt.

    Re: Click TagPanel

Well, Dave, something on my end IS corrupt and I have no idea what could have happened. I just rebooted and still can't get any response in the Click TagPanel. However, If I close my favorite MOZILLA and run IE 6, it works just fine. Does anyone have any idea what could have happened? I've been posting left and right but haven't used the tags for awhile, so I'm lost as to what it might be. Can I interest another Mozilla user out there to try?

I know that Eileen (or Claude?) has made changes to the Lounge system in the past couple of days and it has been at least that long since I tried to use a tag. Eileen, you don't suppose that something you changed might be "discriminating" against Mozilla, do you?

You may have hit it on head, "discriminating" just may be what happened. I am sure that <img src=/S/eileen.gif border=0 alt=eileen width=17 height=15> will check in to see this thread and check it out.

    Re: Click TagPanel

In my experience it is necessary to have Java/JavaScript running (activated) to see the Click Tag Panel. This is an inconvenience for me as I usually have Java off for privacy reasons. Check to see if your browser has Java on or off.

Sometimes I find myself wishing I was a "real geek" so I'd understand what that means <grin> but sheesh Claude, I hope you'll reconsider..... I would assume that whatever it is, it's impacting all Mozilla AND Netscape users as well, huh?

    Re: Click TagPanel

I think being able to track the IP or selection must be IE specific!
I'll see if I can put in a filter to present tags the old 'unpositionable' to for crippled browsers.

    Re: Click TagPanel

Do you get the text of the tags showing with mouse-hover-over?
I find that typing them in faster than finding then clicking the tag icon. Do it enough times and it will become second nature <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15> .

<img src=/S/hmmn.gif border=0 alt=hmmn width=15 height=15> Opera just gracefully ignores the code it doesn't understand and puts the tags at the end. That's what *all* browsers are supposed to do!

    Re: Click TagPanel

If my own sister told me you can't call me unless you use AT&T as your service provider, or visit me unless you drive a Ford, she'd never hear from or see me again!

Folks, I'd just like to say I LOVE MS; WinXP (including IE 6) is the best they've ever done, but please give the rest of the software world a break. We really shouldn't acquiesce to Microsoft and IE just because they dominate the market. Mozilla (and the flowering Netscape versions) surely must be #2 in the marketplace for browsers. I've said many times up front that I'm not a programmer and don't understand the innards of all of what's required, but.....

The Mozilla Organization "says" that they conform to all the latest standards and I have a hard time believing that that might not be true. Does that mean that, in some ways, IE is "non-compliant" in some of its requirements? I sure don't know. I have found only ONE function, at ONE site that I can't utilize without resorting to IE. Now, The Lounge would be number 2. Someone in the Mozilla thread I started some time ago pointed out that, with a user customization, Mozilla can be made to "spoof" some other client, but I've also read that if you make Mozilla spoof IE 6 it (Mozilla) will crash.

Eileen, if the code for the tag insertion system can't be made to accept Mozilla (and/or Netscape) I'd just as soon you NOT cobble it up with "bandaids." I don't understand your statement about the IP but if you tell me I have to use IE to visit The Lounge, I'll just live with that or not visit any more. I won't be a happy camper, but there's lots of things that don't swallow well anyway.

    Re: Click TagPanel

No, Leif, I get nothing on hover either. I guess I'll have to adapt, make myself a "cheat sheet" on the tags I use most frequently and start typing them in as you do. My trouble is I can't for the life of me remember the syntax. I'll have to hang a note on my monitor.....

I also have a "macro" program I use (QuicKeys) so I guess I could resort to some macros!

    Al,

Page 19 of the Lounge Help is an overview of markup. It contains the "code" you have to type for each tag. You can print it from the right-click menu.
