    ACPI Problem

The problem I am experiencing is rather odd !!!
I have loaded a customer build of win2k and during shutdown it does not 'auto' switch off and displays 'OK to switch off computer'
I loaded the same PC with a CD Installation of Win2k and all is ok !!
The customer build appears to have no ACPI reference in the System tab, How do I install this module independently ? and from where ??

You're not going to like this....but you need to re-install the OS, with ACPI enabled in the BIOS as you do it. Check out this thread for a very similar discussion of this issue.

I have tried to re-install the software again, still the same old problem, I have also updated the BIOS to the latest (Which is still dated 1999 !!!)
The PC Hardware in question is a Compaq Deskpro EN450
This problem only seems to be happening with the Customers Build of Win2K & this particular PC model !!!! - seems fine on later models
I think I might just say to the user in question that old microsoft saying "it's a feature not a bug" !!!

    thanks for your help.

Ouch, old BIOS. I hope that doesn't mean you're stuck on this one. Here's a be-all end-all reference for you to check out: Q315409: HOW TO: Troubleshoot Shutdown Problems in Windows 2000

    Good luck!!
