Re: Show flag graphic for printed records??

It happens because you can't update groupby queries, which is the only kind that lets you use aggregate functions like Sum. However, you can update the tables underlying the groupby query.

What you could do is to have your button run an update query on the underlying table once the report had printed and set a Yes/No field to true. I've never found a way to use an update query to insert graphics, although I must admit that I haven't tried very hard. Showing a graphic based on the value in an underlying field is just a matter of setting the frame of image control's visible property to the value of the yes/no field. However, a continuous form complicates things because anything you make visible or invisible on the current record applies to all the records. An ActiveX control is the only option that springs to mind, since they can handle data as well as graphics.

Maybe someone else can come up with a suggestion. I generally avoid this kind of graphic use, so I'm afraid I'm not much help.

    Charlotte,
I didn't have to even use the graphic, I just thought it would look better than a check box is all. I have the check box working with an update query like you said and it's working just great. As always your help is greatly appreciated!!
    Thanks again,

Show flag graphic for printed records??

I have a form that shows a list of people that are late making payments ordered by a court. This form is based on a query that uses aggregate function Sum. I included a screen shot so you can get a visual. I only want to show the flag icon for records that have been printed. So when the user selects the record they want to print and clicks the "Print Report of Default" button the flag will appear next to that record indicating to the user that they have already sent a notice to the defendant. I have tried a few things but I have mostly come up with the error that "This recordset can't be updated", I believe this happens because the query does a calculation on some fields. In the form should I use a image control, bound, or unbound control? I tried adding an OLE field in one of the underlying tables that the query is based on. I'm not sure that this can be done? I may be going about this all wrong, I'm just not sure?? Help!

I would appreciate any help with this.
    Thanks

    Jols,
I've deleted your attachment. Please don't post lists showing names like that.
