Can't browse network for 5 minutes?

    Hi there,
I've recently upgraded my home network to a win2K pro workstation and a win2K server.
The odd thing is I can't see the network from the workstation for around 5 minutes after I boot. And then it appears.
I can't see it with Net View either until 5 minutes is up.

I'm using TCP/IP and fixed IPs ( at the moment)
    Any ideas?
    Richard

The five-minute consistency is interesting. Just as a thought, try diabling the DHCP Client service (or setting it to manual) and see if that helps any.

Actually the workstation that this happens on does not use DHCP but the laptop downstairs ( running XP) that does use DHCP does not wait 5 minutes ( I tried after I posted). My router is the DHCP server. I'll try swapping the 2000 workstaion to DHCP and see what occurs. I'll try your idea as well
    Cheers
