date problem when importing mail from OE6 (2002)

Under W2K and Office XP, I tried to import my mail messages from Outlook Express ver 6. It does import, but half of the messages are imported with today's date, and I loose the date received or created of the message. The other half gets imported OK. Anybody knows why this happens? all messages are in the usual OE6 directory, all together.

they should all have screwed up dates, but if you have a defining time, like mail 2 weeks old behaves differently, i'll believe it. If you save old attachments they are dated 'now' but fairly new attachments are dated with their arrival time.

also, for future reference, export from OE, don't use import in OL.
