    Annoyance (2000 SR-1)

Nothing serious, just an annoyance. In Excel 2000 I can click the save icon and then immediately shutdown Excel and I still get the dialog box asking if I want to save the changes to the file I just immediately preceding this shutdown action saved. If I

Is this happening in all Workbooks?

This may happen in WB's which use certain functions such as =NOW() or =RND() which update themselves on any event and therefore reset Thisworkbook.Saved as False.

    John,

I think you hit the nail on the head. I tried it and it only did that on ones that had the =NOW() function in it. Is that because it tries to check the date as it is closing or what?

    Thanks.

Umm, I'm not sure <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>, but I think the way it works, any 'event', such as saving or closing, causes the cell to update, which in turn toggles the internal saved flag back to false.

    John,

Thanks. I would never have given anything like that a thought if you hadn't mentioned it.

    Again, thanks.
