Merging two OTM files (9.0.0.3821 IMO)

    Hi,
I'm trying to import modules from one OTM file to another. Any ideas?

Why? A Promise IDE controller trashed TWO hard drives on one Win2K Pro SP2 computer. I decided that I probably was running too many apps for the OS, so I bought a third machine (HP Pavilion 750c) to dedicate to MS Office2K. I reinstalled everything, and copied my PST files (they were on a SCSI RAID array, so they were fine).
So far, so good. Then, I wrote a couple of quick macros in the new Outlook. Now I want to import the macros from the old OTM (which I finally found a copy of). I haven't come up with a way to do it yet.

All I can figure out is:
    1) Export the Modules from the new OTM using File, Export in the VBE
    2) Close Outlook, and overwiite the new OTM with the old OTM (lose new buttons, but at least I'll recover the old ones).
    3) Reopen Outlook, and use the VBE File, Import command to import the new modules.

Any thoughts on an easier way?

I tried a simple VBE/File/Import on the old OTM, but it's binary, and the import is ASCII.

I think your renaming strategy is the most logical. In fact, I cannot think of any other way to do it. FWIW, I think your custom buttons are/were in the outcmd.dat file with the other commandbar settings, so changing the VbaProject.OTM file very briefly should not affect them. Nevertheless backups are in order. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

i use the export/import route then copy from the imported file and paste in the good one. then delete the import.

Thanks for the reply. You confirmed what I thought to be the case.

The problem there is that I don't have Outlook installed on the older machine, so I couldn't just export/import. The workaround was rename/export/un-rename/import.

    Thanks for everyone's suggestions!
