    Backspace in Answer Wizard (2002)

Hey, can any of you use backspace or the left arrow when typing an entry in the Answer Wizard of the Help File? I can't and am wondering if I have gremlins.

I just tried it out, and it worked fine for me (both backspace and left arrow). Must be gremlins.

Sure... now mine works too! It must have heard me talking.

    Thanks for checking.

Wait a minute, let's try that again. I'm seeing a pattern to this. Do this without task swapping back to read the instructions. Print them first.

    1) Open Word, PowerPoint, or Excel.
    2) Click Help > Microsoft {application} Help
    3) Maximize the help window and show both the tab pane and the help text pane.
    4) Switch to the Answer Wizard tab.
    5) Close Help without any other changes.
    6) Repeat steps 2 and 3. Help should open directly to Answer Wizard where "Type your question here" is highlighted.
    7) Start typing without clicking anywhere.
    8) Try backspacing over your text.

    Does it?

I can replicate this without fail. It won't backspace on my computers. If I switch from Contents to Answer Wiz, I can. But if it opens directly to Answer Wiz, I can't. I could then switch tabs quickly and it fixes it... but still.

Well now, isn't that something! You're right, it broke it for me, too. A quick search in the MSKB didn't pull anything up, either. <img src=/S/nope.gif border=0 alt=nope width=15 height=15>

Okay, thanks. At least I can stop the Gremlin hunt, now.
