    SMTP (2000 SR-1)

We have developed a database that informed managers and applicable personnel of changes in task assignments. This was accomplished using Outlook and working through a public folder so the mail was "anonymous". Made it through several levels of srutiny and then came up against someone who thinks it would be better to use SMTP.

Is there a way to use an event in Access to trigger mail through SMTP? Or is there another way to send a message to multiple parties with the particular sender remaining anonymous?

    tia

Not sure if this is what you really want.

I created an internal mail system so I could send multi users messages of my choice, here's how I did it.

    I created a table "tblMessages"
    Fields as follows:-
    For| Date | Ref | From | Message | ReadYesNo

Another table "tblUsers" for lookup purposes.
    Dave
    Craig
    Michelle etc etc

These are on the server with a link to each pc.

I then created a simple select query including all the fields on each machine from the above table.
In the criteria I entered the user name e.g "Dave" and "true" in the YesNo criteria.

A simple form was created from the query.

So what happens is the user opens the form and views only his message because of the query criteria.

I have a load of bells and whistles included in mine but I'm sure you can manipulate for your own purpose.

    Hope this helps

    Dave

    Dave,

    Thank you for your repsonse.

I am not looking for a way to read or view messages but rather a way to genereate mail based on a change event that will be delivered via SMTP.

    Regards/
