    Merge 2 columns (Excel 2000)

How do I merge 2 fields that have postal codes in them? The data should be separated by a space.

    Thanks,
    Deb

Re: Merge 2 columns (Excel 2000)

Say that the two parts are in columns A and B, starting at row 2.

If column C is not empty, insert a new column.

In cell C2, enter the formula =A2&" "&B2
With cell C2 selected, double click the selection grip (the little black square in the lower right corner of the cell). This should fill the formula down (if there are no empty rows).

If you want to get rid of the original separate data:
    (1) Select column C (or the cells with postal codes in them). Copy it to the clipboard. Next, select Edit/Paste Special..., select Values and click OK. This replaces the formulas by their values.
    (2) Now, you can safely delete columns A and B (or the part of them containing superfluous date).
