    Computer locks up

I am trying to fix a Pentium III 600 for a friend out of town. It has 384MB ram and its running ME. It does a good POST test and ME starts up fine, but when I start to use the mouse or keyboard it freezes up. I checked for an IRQ conflict, but that wasn't it. I'm thinking a re-install on ME. I don't have a copy of ME so this makes things a little more difficult. Could it be a voltage problem on the power supply? Bad peripheal card or bad memory stick? I'm looking for a quick fix, but this problem may require more effort. Let me know if anyone has seen this before. <img src=/S/bananas.gif border=0 alt=bananas width=33 height=35>

Next thing to do, seems to me, is boot that sucker to Safe Mode and see what happens. Can you try that and let us know?
