You could replace two paragraphs in a row ^p^p with one paragraph ^p, and keep clicking Replace All until you get 0 replacements. To see more special codes, click the More button and look for the pop-up list at the bottom of the Find/Replace dialog.

Thanks a lot. I believe I once had heard this long ago but it got lost somewhere in my mind. It worked well.

Hi Gary:
As long as you're at it, mind as well do it in one fell swoop. To replace two or more paragraph marks with one:
1. Press Ctrl+H to open the Find/Replace dialog box.
2. Type in the Find box:
^13{1,}
-OR-
^13@
3. In Replace, type:
^p
4. Click more & tick the 'Use wildcards'
5. Then do Replace all

The find box says to find one or more of the precediing character.
Cheers,

Phil,

I know I'm getting old but am I missing something here?

you say:
>To replace two or more paragraph marks with one - note the TWO

then you say
2. Type in the Find box:
^13{1,}
-OR-
^13@

and finally you say
>The find box says to find one or more of the precediing character

I agree the 3rd quotation will accomplish what the instructions of the 2nd quotation do. But the exercise was per the 1st quotation.

You did say something in a recent response to one of my posts about not having any short term memory.

Hi Fred:
It must have been late at night... Actually, it works either way. You can
Find: ^13{1,} which is one or more, OR
Fiind: ^13@ which is one or more, OR
Find: ^13{2,} which is two or more.

If any of those are replaced with one paragraph mark, it works, although my literal instructions were for TWO or more. Thanks for catching this.

Hi Phil,

I know the 1st 2 would also catch 2 or more. 2 or more is still included in 1 or more - right? I just would have done the 3rd choice so the F/R doesn't replace all the desirable single occurrence of ^13 with ^p. Just a test of your short term memory.

Hi Fred:
You're right & I agree. However, that will not prevent you from getting old.
