    HD Activity

I am running WIndows 95 and have a Laserjet 5L. My hard drive is continually active, even when I am not using the PC. A diagnostic program shows that HPWHRC, HPLJSW and HPWPSW are three files responsible for most of the activity. What are these and can they be disabled? I don't want my hard drive wearing out before its time!

Those are the printer drivers for your Laserjet. The first thing to try would be to download the most recent drivers for your PC from HP's site and install them. If that doesn't get it, then you may need to get your hands dirty. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
