XP contacts now have email address after the name (XP)

I recently updated from Outlook 2000 to Outlook XP. When I send an email it now shows the email address after the person's name in the TO field. I don't want it to do this, how can I change it? I've noticed that if I edit the contact display as field to not include the address then it doesn't display in the TO field. It would be a pain to have to modify all the contacts individually.

    Thank you for your help.

I still have 2000, but I'm curious about this. Where is the address showing up? In the header when you open from the Sent Items folder, on a printout, on the receiving end, or ???

    If I may butt in...

The attached shows the Contact entry in the top half - when a new contact is made, it takes the contact name and adds the email address in the Display As field automatically.

If you then create a new mail to that contact, the To: field shows the contact name plus the email address afterwards by default.

Would it be possible to export all the contacts to a csv, replace the Display As column with the Full Name field, then re-import back again?

I exported the contacts list out to an excel file. BH contains the display name. B is the first name. D is the last name. So I put =B2&" "&D2 in the BH cells. I reimported the file into contacts and it's now fixed.

I'm still wondering though if there's a way to stop Outlook XP from doing this because it'd be a pain to have to do this for lots of users.

I still use a PAB, so I have total control over display names. If I could make a wish... does XP give any option for how it constructs the Display Name? My preference is to format it as First Last (Company) to avoid (or at least minimize) embarrassing errors.

The drop-down options only appear to offer Last, First (Company) I'm afraid
