Pop up help...

You know the 'pop up help' text that appears when you mouse over a systray app?.... well I've just used the Recovery CD for an Acer Veriton 7100 PC to rebuild it, and when it has finished its process, and is back to the factory shipped configuration, I don't have that feature.

Does anybody know how to turn it on, without using a program such as TweakUI? We don't like to use shareware, freeware, etc.. software on machines that we deploy to our users...

I'm wondering if there is a setting that could be edited in the registry...

I am on a Windows 2000 machine at this time, but, try within Windows Explorer, 'Tools', 'Options' and then select the 'View' tab, and scroll to until you find 'Show Pop-up descr............items. Enter a check in the box. This should do it.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Tried that... without any luck. I had tried that before, but forgot to mention it in the original post...

I don't know what happened, but before I could apply your suggestion Ian, the pop ups starting working.

I can't figure it out... it's the kind of thing that makes your head spin...

When I was checking this with Xteq it indicated a system restart was required to make the changes stick.
