    Browser Closes

Twice in this login session I've clicked on the "Password" subject link in the Lounge Matters menu.
Both times my browser, Mozilla, immediately closed.
On re-opening Mozilla, I was still logged in and able to access other Subject links.
Just thought I'd mention this in case it's important to someone.

    Have a Great day!!!

Your cookie may have crumbled. If you delete the "WOPR" cookies and relog in it should work just fine.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Re: Browser Closes

Dave and Eileen........Thanks for the suggestions.......Tried them........Same problem!
I've been checking various postings regularly with no recent changes in my browser settings.
This is the first time I've encountered this problem, and only with the particular link that I mentioned.
I've no problem with any other Lounge links that I've tried.
If no one else is having problems, then no worry!

I'm relatively new in the Lounge and find it very informative and interesting.
Thanks to all Loungers for a GREAT site!!

    Have a Great day!!!

What exactly were you trying to do with that link?

    Re: Browser Closes

Left Click (once) to bring up the thread (postings) for viewing..
I've just successfully gone to the thread (postings) from my workplace office computer using IE.
Could there be something in the Link that Mozilla doesn't like?
I'll try Netscape 4.7 from my home office tonight.

    Re: Browser Closes

That's weird. Are you trying to view the thread entitled "Password," dated 14 Aug 02? I use Mozilla 1.0 and just clicked on that thread without a problem.....

    Re: Browser Closes

Yup, BigAl, that be the one.
I just tried it again....poof....no more Mozilla!!!
I re-opened Mozilla (Navigator, the Mail window isn't affected), clicked on my link to the Lounge, and there I am, still logged in and ready to go.
Could it be that I'm using Mozilla ver. 1.1a??
What I can't figure out is that it hasn't happened with any other links, in the Lounge or otherwise. <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>

    Re: Browser Closes

Sheeesh...I just tried to edit my previous post as follows, only to have it error out and toss my edit......oh well, I need the typing practice!

    OK.......so now it's tonight.
I've just just successfully gone to the thread (postings) from my home office computer using Netscape 4.7.
Then I tried again on my other home office computer using Mozilla.......nope......Mozilla went bye-bye as soon as I clicked on the link.
In case it matters, my success with IE was on an NT computer through a LAN, my success with Netscape was on an ME computer through a LAN, my attempts with Mozilla were on an ME computer direct to a dial-up modem.

It seems to me that BigAl has some experience with Mozilla. Perhaps he could shed some light on this? (Are you out there BigAl???)

    Have a Great day!!!

    Re: Browser Closes

Has to be the 1.1a, Ken. I'm still using 1.0. On the other hand, I don't see anything in that thread except three posts, one of which has a small screenshot attachment. All look harmless enough to a browser. Just for the heck of it, see if you can paste this link to the thread into your clipboard. I just copied it to see what would happen if you try to go directly to this link:

    http://www.wopr.com/cgi-bin/w3t/showflat.p...sb=5&o=0&fpart=

Or, you could open another tabbed Navigator window, hover your mouse over the Password thread name and see if you get the same link down at the bottom of your screen on the status line, without clicking the thread name. Gotta be an answer there somewhere.

    Re: Browser Closes

Ken, I just popped over to the Mozilla site to read the release notes for the 1.1 beta and I don't see anything that mentions spurious browser closings. I must admit I don't know what "pipelining" is but I did see it mentioned. You could try turning it off to see what happens. I didn't take time to search thru any of the Mozilla newsgroups for it. Push come to shove, you could always uninstall and blow away that beta 1.1 and reinstall the 1.0 so-called "stable" release.

    Re: Browser Closes

    BigAl
I've been playing with the url.
If I use it in a second "Tab" window, the whole Navigator session closes.
I opened a separate Navigator session and tried different "Number=<values>". These either took me to a thread or returned a "Page not found" error.
I've gone to the Mozilla site as well, but found it too "techie" for me.
Seems to me it's not a big deal. If you, or someone else wants to persue it, I'll help.....otherwise, I'm OK to move on.
If someone wants to continue, perhaps a new posting in the "Other Browsers and Email Clients" category would be more appropriate as others with various versions of Mozilla might pick up the thread.
Or possibly this whole thread could be moved to "Other Browsers and Email Clients".
    Thanks for your efforts.

    Have a Great day!!!
