    Can Word Automatically Strip Graphics to make docu (2000)

    Word 2000

    I regularly use documents, with pictures embedded, that need to be distributed electronically for review and the size of a document with graphics becomes painful to send and receive. Is there a simple way to save a document in word format without the pictures included or to run a macro to strip all graphics and/or pictures? Ideally I would like to keep other word functions such as comments etc, so converting to a text only format is not desirable.

    If your pictures are "inline," that is, they do not float over text, then it is extremely simple: Find ^g and replace with nothing (or [Picture Omitted]).

    If your pictures are in the drawing layer (they have white sizing handles and behave arbitrarily), this trick will not work.

    Hi Claude,

    Give the macro below a try - it'll go through your document and delete every shape (eg text box, picture, wordart, autoshape) in your document.

    One thing you should bear in mind when doing this kind of thing is that your document's layout could change quite a lot when you remove all the pictures etc.

    Cheers

    Sub DelShapes()
    If ActiveDocument.Shapes.Count > 0 Then
    For Each Shp In ActiveDocument.Shapes
    Shp.Delete
    Next Shp
    End If
    End Sub
    Cheers,
