    Windows Explorer Double image of my documents fold

    The folder on your desktop is a special shell icon that is linked to the "real" My Documents folder on the C: drive. If you want to hide it from view, I'd move My Documents on the C: drive to a sub-folder somewhere, and then modify the properties of the desktop icon to reflect the new location.

    If you look at the two folders, they should have different appearances in your display - one is a closed folder, the other an open one with (ostensibly) paper sticking out of it.
