    Removing XP from dual boot

I installed Windows 2000 on a computer with Windows XP. I assumed that it would remove XP. However the dual boot choice comes up on booting. How do I remove Windows XP from my computer?

Re: Removing XP from dual boot

You can edit the file BOOT.INI which should live in your C: drive. In there you will see the options to remove XP from the list of choices.

Keep in mind that XP is still on the hard drive when you do this, it's just no longer an option when booting up.

    Also, be careful.

I guess that you have XP on the C drive and 2000 on another drive.

The system will still boot to C and need some means to find the other OS, so taket care in changing boot.ini.

I had a similar problem... I completely removed XP, reformatted the HD, installed W2K, and the OS choices menu still pops up with XP as an option! (of course, if you choose it, you get nothing but an error!)

    THANK YOU!!!!
