MP3 as the sound file (97)

I made a Powerpoint that is a photo collection with accompanying music. The only type of music I can insert (that I know of) is in .wav format. Those are so big I can only use one. Making the bit size smaller really decreases the quality, which I don't want to do.

I want to add more slides as well as more music to go along with it. Is there a way to insert mp3's or other type of sound files?

    Thanks

PPT 97 does not support MP3 files, sorry. I've heard you can drag the MP3 file from Windows Explorer into the slide, making an object. Set the animation to play automatically. PPT will then kick on Windows Media Player to start the file when you play the show. I don't know how this all works.

FYI, version 2000 and 2002 handle MP3's just fine.

    I was afraid of that.

    Thanks for your response.
