    Explorer Shutdown

Windows Explorer keeps shutting down - no error message - it just closes out the HotSync program in my tray and then things become difficult. Explorer is usable but it works at "creeping death" speed.

    I'm using Win98SE with 256mb RAM.

    Re: Explorer Shutdown

Are we talking about "Windows Explorer" or Internet Explorer ??? I'm not familiar with the HotSync program but it sounds like an internet utility from the name. Also the reference to "creeping death speed" would seem to indicate an internet connection issue since you only refer to the operation of "explorer" after the problem. Otherwise you would notice the entire system operating at the speed of "creeping death ".

    Doc,
Thanks for replying. It's Windows Explorer that's the problem.
HotSync is my means of synchronizing my PDA with Outlook and it's 3rd-party software.
After Windows Explorer kicks out, I can still access it but it's slooooooooow. My internet connection shouldn't affect Windows Explorer - Should it?

Nope. The internet connection shouldn't affect windows explorer's operation. Can you disable the HotSync program until you need it ?? Either through the program itself or by removing it from the startup folder ???

Thanks for the suggestion about diabling HotSync. I've just done it.
    Let's see what happens.
