    Unicode on the Lounge?

I've made some test posts containing Unicode characters in the "Test Area".
They look fine in my IE6.
Could somebody with another browser please check if the posts contain lots of boxes?

Look like characters of one kind or another in IE 5.5 SP2.

    Hi Jefferson,

Funny: BookLady, who uses IE5 too, sees only boxes.
My guess is that you have to have some font like "Arial Unicode MS" installed. Do you have that on your machine?

    <img src=/S/cheers.gif border=0 alt=cheers width=30 height=16>Thank you for checking! Klaus

Yes. Doesn't everyone? I have Office 2000 Developer + Windows 2000, and I don't think I've added any other fonts to it.

    Klaus,

This is what your <post#=170250>post 170250</post#> looks like to me in IE 5.01.

    Regards,
    Hans

Looks like "only" those characters that are in the WGL4 fonts (what MS calls "core fonts for the web") are fine -- well, that's much better than nothing:

I guess Jefferson is wrong and not *everybody* has "Arial Unicode MS" installed <img src=/S/wink.gif border=0 alt=wink width=15 height=15>

Apparently it comes with MS Publisher; do you have MS Publisher installed? Related, click Fonts on this MS page.

Bother. On my Work 2000 installation, Lucida Sans Unicode is the only specified Unicode Font.

Office Developer 2000, which includes Publisher (though I've never used it). The "Additional TrueType Fonts" appears to come from "Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Disc 2." Not sure which other editions of Office include that CD.
