IE 6: Two windows open when click on a URL

Hi,
When I click on a URL, a blank window opens first and then the actual URL I want to visit.
Consequently, when I exit from the web page I visited, there is a blank window open behind it,
and it too needs to be closed.

I know there is a way to fix that, but cannot remember.
Can someone give me some ideas how to get rid of this double window opening.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Ed

PS: I use IE 6.0 with SP3.

Hey Mark,

It was a super solution! It's working like a charm. It was really a pain to keep closing the additional window.

Thanks very much,

Ed

P.S.: you wouldn't want to share your collection of "notes " file with problem fixes, would you??

Not sure I understand....but if it's the contents of my brain you're after, there are other, more experienced brains to look for an ASCII dump of.

If you're looking for a brain dump from Mark, here's a good way: click on the Search button up top, choose your forum(s) and plug in your search terms. Not only will you get Mark's expertise but every knowledgable person who's volunteered their time to help and sometimes learn something new themselves. Woody's Lounge is one big database of information - it's up to you to mine it.

Hi Mark,

I was just kidding about sharing your collection of problem fixes and tweaks.
I was refering to your comment somewhere that when you find a fix or a tweak,
you save it in a text file and later when you need it just search your collected fixes.
It's a real good idea, I'll start doing it.
Thanks again for your help.

I'm actually working on putting that online on my website so that I have a one-stop shop for those kinds of things, no matter where I am. Feel free to visit the site even though the tips section is nowhere near complete....and Keely's suggestion is even better. The Lounge is an excellent resource!!

Hi Keely,

Thank you for your suggestion about plugging in the search terms
and finding answers from all the experts here. And if understand you correctly,
you're suggesting to do the search before posting any request for help.
I will do that for sure. Thanks again for your suggestion.

I wasn't trying to you into searching first - what I wanted to point out is that the best source of knowledge and expertise is that of a collective, like here on Woody's. It's more than just one person's brain dump, but hundreds of people, sometimes with different opinions on the same topic - it makes for some great debates!

Re: IE 6: Two windows open when click on a URL

Keely, I know you were not trying to tell me to search first before posting for help,
I just think that's the better way of doing it by taking advantage of the collective expertise
of the forum instead of just one or two people who responds to the post.

Thanks again for your advise.

(Now if I could just figure out how to put in picture and smilies. My trying didn't work. Oh, well)
