Me to XP - pst lost! (office 2000 sp1)

Help! I upgraded my PC from Windows Me to XP and everything worked fine except Outlook has disappeared as well as it's .pst file.

Wha' happened?

I thought I'd read all the "Woody's" about this as well as 2 different 3rd party installation guides and it wasn't mentioned anywhere!

I do recall hearing that IE 6.x and Outlook prior to XP don't get along, but not that it trashed the .pst file! I didn't appear to have a choice about the load , it just loaded 6 without asking permission

Any ideas where it might have placed my .pst. It wasn't in the recycle bin, naturally.

Thanks for nay help you can give,

Greg

Your PST file should be under "Gocuments and Settings"User name"Local SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftOutlook"
It will be a hidden file so you will need to turn on Shgow ALL files.

If it is not there, after you have turned on show all files, do a file search for "*.pst" whitput the quotes and see where the file is.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Thank you Dave:

As it turns out, the search facility in XP was the problem. Once I loaded my Office XP, everything was visible from Outlook. I did yet another search of my entire C: for *.pst and no file was found.

I went into Outlook XP and selected File/New/Outlook Data File and sure enough, there it listed my old .pst file! I was easily able to navigate to the .pst file once I found the path. Don't know why it isn't showing up in the search but suspect it was searching for the asterisk, unlike previous versions. Seems like I've run into this problem with Microsoft's nemesis, Oracle, before. The world gets smaller every day...

Thanks again, let me tell you it was a great relief to see that file again!
