    Tabs following Heading styles (w2k)

Can anyone explain if there is a way to turn off the tab which is automatically inserted after a heading number.
I still require to have the number and text displayed as if there is a tab. I went into 'more' options under bullets and numbering and could turn off the tab from there but could then not achieve the required space between the number and the text. Anyone got any ideas?

If you are linking paragraph numbering to styles, which IMHO is the only way to do it without inviting a host of problems, you can go to Format/Style. Select Heading 1, then Modify, then Format, then Numbering. Click on the More button. You'll see a field labeled "Follow Number With". From the drop-down list, select Nothing. Then, when you're typing, apply the style, then start the text with a manual tab.
