    Windows 2000 Logon

I thought I was resetting my logon so it would boot automatically without asking for a password. Now, I get a logon message (dafualting to Administrator) that my password is incorrect. I never entered a password when I set it up. At any rate, I cannot get past the Windows Log On Screen. Any advice?

    Thanks,

    Jill in Lansing, MI

I think in order to use the "AutoLogin" one MUST have a password.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Jill,

My experience with Win 2000 is minimal but I got in a clutch trying to set up a machine for a new user and did not have passwords available. Probably analogous to using a sledge hammer to a tack, I reinstalled Windows 2000 and solved the problem. Other ideas are most likely better, but this did work.

Try this one at your own risk . Go to this link and download the iso image (NTRecovery-DMZS.iso) . Burn into a CD and boot from CD and follow the instructions carefully. Have tried this a couple times to change lost password account in a friend's NT/2000 box including the admin account.
