    Antivirus - Avast Home Edition

Highlighted in a "Daily Security Tip" received from TechTV, Avast Home Edition has apparently received some very high marks for reliability, receiving a 100% rating in the June 2002 Virus Bulletin. It is a rather large file, 10Mb, but according to the reviews I read it is not a system hog. I'm wondering if anyone here has used it, and perhaps how it compares to AVG which I currently use.

Do not know about your antivirus question, but wanted to say that the link is a very cool site. Lots of interesting info...

Re: Antivirus - Avast Home Edition

I've gotten a few good tips and links from their newsletters, so actually the site itself might qualify as a "Find". TechTV the TV station is also quite good (most of the newsletter links are actually related to topics discussed on some of the various shows). Chris Pirillo of Lockergnome has his own show Call for Help, and of course there's also Max Headroom. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

But as to Avast, to me it is still an unknown. Reportedly it is marginally better than AVG (?), but comes at a much larger size, and as yet I've no reason to think that AVG does not meet my security needs.
