    macro hiding somewhere (W97 SR2 on Win 2000 / NT4)

I'm sure something like this has been asked before...

I recorded a trivial macro, assigned it a keystroke shortcut and stored it in the document. Now that I'm done I have removed the module from my document BUT when I reopen the document Word still tells me it contains macros.

Why? Is it still hiding somewhere? NB my system is virus free.

    stuck

This is a known bug (or feature) in Word 97 - even when you remove all macros from a document or template, the "infrastructure" for macros is left. See WD97: Macro Virus Warning Displayed When No Macros Exist in File for an explanation and some workarounds.

Having glanced the fixes on offer in th KB article I think I'll just live with this particular 'feature'. Life's too short to rebuild finished documents!

    Thanks for pointing me to the answer <img src=/S/thumbup.gif border=0 alt=thumbup width=15 height=15>

    (un)stuck

I have the same problem in Word 2000 - do you know if the solution is the same?

The situation is different in Word 2000 - see WD2000: Macro Virus Warning Appears When No Macros Exist in File.
