XP service pack 1 (Windows XP Professional)

Anyone have any inklings when XP SP1 is likely to be released? I'd like to try out the beta version but have been unable to find anyone who can let me know if I will be able to install the released version on top of the beta version without conflicts....

The purported release date is this month. Don't be in too much of a hurry to install it, unless you like taking risks...

The beta builds are coming with a removal tool, which works. As for you getting a beta copy, ONLY if you are on the beta team at this time. MS has NOT said if there will or not be a public beta.

Go to http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...p1_hotfixes.asp for the latest "Windows XP Pre-SP1 Hotfixes"

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

No risks, things are working great on my test machine.

hey - I use Microsoft products. I'm already taking a baseline risk ....
after the deep joy I had with Office XP SP1 and conflicts when installing it on XP I know better than to dive head first into the pool only to find someones put a statue a few feet under the water for the unwary ...

thanks for the info though
