    Custom Cells (Excel 2000)

    In a spread sheet we need to have the cell show weight in pds and/or 16ths. Like a postage scale, ex: 1lb 11.65 oz

    Is this possible?

    Say your weight is in cell A1. In cell B1, enter the following formula:

    <pre>=TRUNC(A1)&" lbs "&TEXT(MOD(A1,1)*16,"0.00")&" oz"</pre>

    If you don't want to see the original number, you can hide column A.

    That is awesome! How slick. I don't know what all the individual parts of the formula mean, but it works great. When I enter 1.1165 it comes out 1 lbs 1.68 oz

    Thank You!!!!! <img src=/S/bananas.gif border=0 alt=bananas width=33 height=35>

    TRUNC removes the fractional part from A1.

    MOD(A1,1) returns the remainder of A1 if you divide by 1; that is the fractional part. This is multiplied by 16 to get the number of ounces (1/16th pound), and formatted by TEXT to display 2 decimals.
