DVD Playback

I can use some help. Problem is that I can not playback video DVDs. WinDVD Player gives an erro mess. "Your video card doesnt support DVD play Back" & suggest that I update the driver.
Driver updated, problem still there.
I am not sure when it messed up since I haven't used the DVD playback for awhile but here is the story, maybe someone can help an old f_ _ _t.

Last I know everything was fine. and then.....
System config. HP-XT933, WinME, S3 Prosavage Video, Pioneer DVD-ROM DVD116.
Recently installed Belkin USB VideoBus II, and MGI VideoWave 5.

I have used both with no problems then i tried to play a DVD

Any help is appreciated.

Bernie, are there any other messages that you see? What I'm hoping is that you have seen something regarding the overlay controls, etc.

The first step would be to remove the DVD software completely, reboot, and then re-install it. It could be as simple as a video codec that is unregistered, but no matter what the ultimate reason reinstalling a flailing application can do wonders, since DLLs registrations, drivers, and registry entries are done all over again.

Sounds like a good idea.....I was also thinking along the same track. I'll give it a try this week & let you all know. Just haven't had a chance to play lately.

Answer to your question about other messages appearing is, no. Thats another thing that has me puzzled, no other messages, no conflicts, everthing related to the drive and/or video appear to work fine, etc.
Right now I am just set on your idea & will give it a try.

Thanks Mark...... Everything APPEARS to be back to normal. Uninstall & install seems to have worked.
