    Trying to install sound card

I have a box that was just converted from W98 to W2k. Windows never found the sound card and Add New Hardware won't find it either. I tried changed the PCI slot to let Windows rethink the install and it still didn't find it. The software and drivers were added fine, but no sound card listed.

Any clues how to get W2k to recognize the card? It's a Avance Logic ALS4000 card.

You need to get Windows 2000 drivers for ALL of your hardware that is NOT working or fully. You shoud go the the vender's website and see what they have. Remember that NOT all hardware venders support Windows 2000 for ALL of their products. The same goes for Windows Me and XP Pro and Home.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Re: Trying to install sound card

I did download the drivers for this sound card. It did list W2k's drivers.

One thing I just remembered was that I was doing some Windows download updates from the Update Windows section and it listed Realtek as an updated driver. I wonder if that actually messed up the driver instead of improving it. When I search for Avance Logic ALS4000, it brings up Realtek's site.

I may try and uninstall that update if possible and go from there.
