When you insert a CD into a CD drive, the cursor briefly changes to an image of a CD, to indicate that a new CD has been detected. Does anyone know how to control this behavior? I have a new CD-RW drive, and after installing it, and using it to read or write a CD, when I remove the CD and close the tray, my cursor blinks from the normal pointer to the CD disk image at a one-second rate, continuously, until I shut down and reboot. On reboot, the system goes back to normal, so long as I don't insert another disk. I can find nothing in the MS KnowledgeBase on this, and I suspect some strange hardware interaction with XP. If I leave the tray out, I don't have the problem, but that increases the risk of damage.
