    You kind of lost me. Are you trying to delete the cost data using Macros? Also - The original effective date is set to the project start date by MS Project. I don't believe this date can be deleted or changed.

    Re: Pay Rate Effective Date (2000/SR-1)

    I am trying to replace the data in cost rate table A based on a Macro (i.e give me a 5% a year increase starting on 8/1/2003 for three years). I know the first effective date is set by project, but the subsequent dates are set by the user. I just cannot find a way to do it with a macro if dates have already been entered into Cost Rate Table A. Any method of deleting or replacing the effective dates that can be changed would be useful, even if it deletes the whole pay line(knowing line 1 cannot be deleted). Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Any chance you can post the macro code or attach a sample of the file with the macro (even better)? I will try to take a look at it once I get through some deliverables due this week.

    Re: Pay Rate Effective Date (2000/SR-1)

    Thanks Gary, below is a sample macro that can show my problem. It only works the first time and then fails. Just create a dummy project with a couple of resources and no future rate change dates.

    Public Sub CalculateFutureRates()
    Dim R As Resource
    Dim CRT As CostRateTable
    Dim I As Integer
    Dim NumYears As Integer 'Number of Years to add new rates
    Dim YearChange As String 'First Date of Yearly Rate change
    Dim YearIncrease As String 'Expected Percentage Increase each year
    Dim IncrementDate As Date

    'Will change code to make the following user entry once code works
    NumYears = 3
    YearChange = CDate("7/1/2003")
    YearIncrease = "5%"

    'Scrolls through each resouce in the active project."
    For Each R In ActiveProject.Resources
    'Scrolls through each Cost Rate Table for the
    'active Resource, Places new rates into Cost Table.
    'Project 2000 cannot overwrite existing effective Date, possibly next
    'version will allow this. This piece only works the first time and
    'fails if rates exist for future dates
    For Each CRT In R.CostRateTables
    For I = 2 To (NumYears + 1)
    IncrementDate = DateAdd("yyyy", I - 2, YearChange)
    CRT.PayRates.Add (IncrementDate)
    CRT.PayRates(I).StandardRate = YearIncrease
    CRT.PayRates(I).OvertimeRate = YearIncrease
    CRT.PayRates(I).CostPerUse = "0%"
    Next I
    Next CRT
    Next R

    End Sub

    Neat Macro <img src=/S/thumbup.gif border=0 alt=thumbup width=15 height=15>

    But you have me stumped. The only things I can think of would be to either delete and re-insert the resource (Deleting the resource would force the rates to be removed) or try to see if you can loop from the last year backwards and delete the rates. I believe the object said they are read only so I don't know if this would work.

    HTH

    Hopefully, some others may have some ideas.

    Re: Pay Rate Effective Date (2000/SR-1)

    Thanks for the time/effort.

    I have tried it with only one future date and it will not overwrite it. As to deleting resouces, I already have them assigned to tasks and ti would remove them from the assignment.

    Does anyone know if this field can be overwritten in Project 2002?
