Proxy server settings locked/disables/greyed out (IE 6 / Win XP Pro)

I am unable to change the Proxy Server Settings (under LAN settings) - they're greyed out (see image at ). Any suggestions anyone?

    Thanks,

    Arie

That sounds like something that might be controlled in the Policies... Give me a second to investigate.
    ___________

OK, open regedit and go to this key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftInternet ExplorerControl Panel

Look for a value named "Proxy". If it is there, it will likely have a data entry of 00000001. You want to modify that data to be "0" -- that is, 00000000.

If you do not find the under the "Current User" key, then look under the "Local Machine" key here:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftInterne t ExplorerControl Panel
