    Contact Icons (Outlook 2k2)

    Can someone help please.

I've created a couple of Distribution lists, and I've noticed a difference in whether I can update the list, when I change a list members E-mail address in Outlook.

There appear to me to be two (there may be others but I only have two showing in my various outlook lists) types of contact, each of which has a different Icon beside it in the distribution list.

One type will update when the original record is changed, the other will not update, and I need to delete a record and then Select it again. I don't know how I've created the different types, I cannot see any variation in the type of data saved in the two types.

The one that updates has a split icon grey on the left hand side, white on the right. The image is too small to see what is on the grey half. The other is all white, with simulated text. I did try to paste the 2 icons in here, but they wouldn't show, but I've attached an img file to the message.

Can anyone make any suggestions please.

    Thanks

    Colin

I've been curious about that also. Did anyone ever post an answer?

The contact icon ones should be ones added as contacts. The cardfile icon are ones you typed the address in for. If you are on Exchange server, card file icons are used for GAL entries. Since the GAL is server and DL local, they won't update.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Like so many things, when explained, it makes (almost) perfect sense.

I did have to do a search to find out what GAL stood for (Global Address List) to save anyone else. But I didn't find DL in the search I used. I presume I can work out what the L stands for, but I couldn't think of anything for the D. I'm sure it will be maddeningly obvious once explained.

    Thanks
