track changes - how to change author tracks? (word97 sr2b)

Hi - this is along shot but i'll give it go.
In MSWord97- our company has User Information set to company name - so for track changes purposes author details are the same.
One of our users took his document home to work on his own pc.
His Office/Word User Information is set to his own name.
Hes brought the document back into the Office - when track changes are on you can view his details & the time he worked on the file at home.
He would like to remove his track changes under his name & change to company name.
I know thats the whole purpose of track changes to distuinguish authors working on the doc
but is there anyway we can do this ?
eg via a registry hack or something etc
    thanks in advance - Diana

In a word, no, the Author of a revision mark is a "read-only" property. You could try what I tried once, but which failed because the document had extremely complex nested changes and comments and footnotes and cobwebs and gremlins: find each change, remove it, and re-do it. It then would have the name of the current author as well as the current date and time. I think I threw away my code, but you could start with the code in <!post=Post #173394,173394>Post #173394<!/post> which has the looping logic. Naturally, you will only want to muck with the user's own changes, and not those of third parties.
