    Excel VBA/Macros (Excel 2000)

Still a baby at creating modules, but am perplexed at something that occurs, so know I must do something terribly wrong. I know when I am in Word, I can make a module available to any document with the Organize feature. But in excel...it seems that when I write some code, assign it to a command button or menu, that depending on what spreadsheet I had open when I created that code, it only saves it within its enviornment. When I open a new worksheet, press the command, or toolbar shortcut to run the code...it performs the action, but also opens the other worksheet (the one I had open when I wrote the code) and minimizes it on the taskbar. Why does that have to open? I press ALT & F8 to enter the VBA window, write some code, assign it to my Macros toolbar. Close the worksheet and save as example "Budget"...then open a new worksheet and use the same Icon on my toolbar to run the code, and "Budget" opens. Am getting the idea that that is where I created the Macro, so it wants to open "that" document just to execute my code in the new document...please help. I know this has got to be something amazingly simple, and I'm gon'na smack myself in the forhead and do the "DUH" thing, any advice is so appreciated.
