    Re: Mr. X

I see...It lookes like the previous url was to an old image that doesn't exist. Wouldn't all the urls for the user's image change upon modification?

    You've totally lost me.
Below is what I see - can you explain precisely what you are experiencing?

    Re: Mr. X

Thanks, Leif, but it's been changed. There was a placemarker rather than an image on this entry only and the url appeared to have been an old one as the number was different than my current pic url.

    >> but it's been changed

Are you saying it is correct now?

It appears to be showing on all your posts as: http://www.wopr.com/w3tuserpics/brucekrymow.gif

    Re: Mr. X

Sorry, but in <post#=157116>post 157116</post#> it is: http://www.wopr.com/w3tfiles/23-156083-brucekrymow.gif

All the pictures were correct except this one, which had a placemarker at the time of this thread initiation. The other pics in the same thread of post 157116 are with the url as you mentioned, but the first one is not.

    Re: Mr. X

Yes - it does in that post.
It appears that at one point you referenced your userpic to the graphic attached in Post 156083, instead of saving it and uploading it.

It looks like that graphic was not available at the time you viewed it and perceived a problem.

Hmmm....well, that might've been a Mod. I uploaded myself from my 'puter as it appears on July 6 at 7:58 pm.

    Re: Mr. X

    Bruce,

All uploads and attachements to the board get moved to a secondary server about once a month. The system checks for the attachements local availability, if not, it grabs it off the secondary server.

In your case, you've pointed your user-pic to an attachement instead of uploading the new one again. This is why Mr. X appeared. The missing-file handler was working overtime, I got sick of it and re-copied it into the w3tfiles folder. UserPics are kept in a seperate folder, the same "seek and find" method isn't applied to userpics as it would be a resource hog.

In other words, if you change userpics, upload it again instead of changing the URL, unless of course the url is off your own server <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
    Cheers, Claude.
