    Opening Files (Excel 2000)

Can someone please tell me how to change the default file type when opening a file. I want it to display "All Files" rather than the file types showing extensions.

I don't believe that there is an easy way to do this. The only way that I can think of would be to replace the Open command button on the File menu with a command button that executed a macro to do what you want. You could use the GetOpenFilename method to get the file name using whatever filter you desire.

Hmm.. I asked my partner, and he was kind enough to write an add-in for you. Anyone can download from AllFilesAddin
Download to your PC, and unzip the file. You might want to place the XLA file where other XLA files exist on your system. Then go to Tools-Addins, hit browse, and go get the XLA. Next time you hit File-Open, or the open toolbar button, it'll automatically look for all files. Cool, huh?
