    email (XP)

I have a Dell system. I am operating Outlook Express. Why does Hot Mail duplicate everything that comes in. I have tried to make Outlook my default email source. But it is still much easier to bring up Hot Mail!

I do not use Outlook Express (OE) to open my Hotmail. I have heard that you can NOT delete the email from the server by using OE, you must be at the Hotmail web site to do the deleting. So each time you check for new email, the ones that are there will down load again.

I may be wrong here, if so I hope someone who knows different will jump in.

you can delete - it's moved to the deleted folder.

What you can't do is empty the deleted folder - you need to wait for hotmail's regular clean up then sync to get rid of them.

They don't count towards the mailbox size.

Is it your intention to use Hotmail and have it connected directly to Outlook Express on your Dell? This has to be setup deliberately by the user, it is not a default set up although Dell do make lots of easy connections to encourage exactly what you are doing. (Hence the comment you made about it being easier to bring up Hotmail).
